One
of host Joel McHale's favorite segments over the last year or so has
featured NBC's lead news anchor, in which the narration of insignificant
stories is clearly sarcastic in tone - called Raayyeerr!! With Brian Williams since its inception.He even made a guest appearance on the show in early February to play along with the running joke. Long before that however, The Soup's team of video editors watched every Nightly News and Rock Center intently in order to find the next comedic gem they could use.
Examples include, but are not limited to-
1. Referring to Cinnabon's experimental plan to start selling pizza, Williams said- "Let's hope this goes nationwide. As many of us believe the only problem with Cinnabon is it's lack of pizza." (Watch it here)
2. Mocking the iPhone ads that demonstrated Siri, Williams humorously summarizes the one starring Zooey Deschanel.
"As you watch them, remember the nation who won World War II," he said. "...exhausted by the prospect of changing out of her pajamas, (Deschanel) asks for the weather while standing next to a window - shares her desire for tomato soup and declares the day a total loss." (video lacks quality)
What I've uploaded below could potentially be the next one, followed by one of the latest clips to be utilized in a recent episode of The Soup (respectively).
In the first clip, Williams reports on an 'art exhibit' in New York City featuring Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton sleeping in a glass box. "It's called The Maybe," he said. "A lot of folks thought - 'well, maybe it's art'. A woman sound asleep for hours at a time inside a box."
The second wonders if a Canadian man, who is obsessed with trains and collectible action figures has much of a life...
